October – Self-Control

• the ability to control oneself, in particular one's emotions and desires or the expression of them in one's behavior, especially in difficult situations:

• Daniel 1: 8-21 - Daniel in the King’s Court. Daniel was a teenager, taken captive to a foreign land. He was chosen to be educated, so that he might become an advisor to the king. Daniel was offered all of the king’s best food and wine as part of this education.  Yet he chose not to partake of these rich foods because it went against his religious teachings.

• Self-control is the foundation of our obedience to God’s will.
