• Caring for Our Children

• ZERO TO THREE

Child care professionals are often the first to spot delays and disabilities because they conduct routine behavioral observation and screening sessions, and document lags in development. They also have specific roles and responsibilities related to caring for children with developmental disabilities; however, making a diagnosis and determining an intervention strategy to treat a suspected delay or disability are not among them. It takes a team of professionals to determine whether children are experiencing a delay or have a developmental disability, and to develop interventions that may be made in a child care setting.
